The surrounding area
The South Hams is famous for its beautiful coast, unspoilt countryside, rugged moorland and has some of the finest sandy beaches suitable for a range of water sports or just sunbathing and crabbing. Bigbury-on-Sea, Challaborough and Bantham offer award winning beaches with excellent facilities. There are lifeguards on duty during the summer months. Dartmoor National Park is stunning and The Eden Project, a little further afield, is well worth a visit.
Totnes, Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Salcombe all offer fabulous shopping, farmers markets, a far cry from the average chain store High Street.
The South Hams has something for everyone at any time of year - sailing, boat trips, surfing, walking, horse riding, fishing and golf. There are numerous golf courses locally including Bigbury Golf Club and the Dartmouth Golf and Country Club. As guests of Colmer you would be entitled to a 25% discount on green fees and able to use the health and leisure facilities free of charge at the Dartmouth Golf and Country Club.
Family attractions abound! Come rain or shine you would never be short of a day out! Model villages, steam trains, adventure parks, ski centre, zoo, National Marine Aquarium, places of historic interest, craft centres and much, much more!

Eating out in the area is a delight if you are lover of good food - the South Hams has fantastic locally produced and sourced food all year round, with many fine pubs and restaurants to choose from! For special occasions there is
The New Angel, John Burton-Race’s restaurant on Dartmouths harbour side or Matisse in the lovely Georgian rectory hotel at Ermington. Have an organic breakfast in the cafe at Riverford Farm Shop or lunch at Effings deli in Totnes - perhaps a cream of local cauliflower soup served with truffle oil!
